Road Trip!!

Let's go!! Planning visits to Junior National Volleyball tourney in Columbus, OH, (to watch dd compete), college visits in Rochester, Boston, Philly, Lancaster, PA, for some quilting inspiration, a visit in Tennessee to a dear quilting friend and points beyond!!

Closer to home, here is a sneak peak inside the brand new hometown quilt shop with owner of WonderArc quilt ruler and pattern designer and prolific quilter Mary Ellen. Congratulations!! PS: Chronological progress on circle wreath. I worked on another Red & Green Baltimore block while ago (below). It needs flowers tucked into the open caylex to finish it. (Lousy photos...but you get the idea :)

Suzy Rae!!

She's is so much fun!! It has become a little challenging to work with the very limited amount of dusty pink fabric and resulted in tweaking the design. (However, no amount of adjustments will satisfy dd who is quite skeptical of the whole thing! LOL)

The quilt is laid out on the floor and blocks are arranged and re-arranged in attempt to get an appealing lay-out with the limited resources on hand. Only the letters are sewn so far. I know the right look when I see it - but those glimpses are slow to come despite many design iterations! Also, it took forever to get my machine stitches and tension back into adjustment due to too much time between sewing sessions (many months!) Moving forward!

Simply Delicious Apples!

Apples began in Aug. 2011 - completed in May 2012 with lots of life in between! I love how they turned out. Now I'm starting work on the last block: Lemons! So much fun!

Next is to finish a few selected pieces for the Spinning Spools Quilt Show in Sept. (one needs to go to the quilter before it's too late on time). I will also prep a few blocks for the volleyball and college road trio! Truly enjoying this quilting season of my life!

A little Quilting - A little writing

Tonya Riccuci's book, the cutest little girl name, and the Modern Quilting (MQ) work I see online inspired me to begin this baby quilt: Suzy Rae! "Rae" turned out especially good! The pics are not so great (using older camera so I can download directly to computer) but the quilt is very FUN!

My personal challenge (besides making letters for the first time and giving the MQ style another go) is to work from my stash! I love this challenge and it pushes me in creative ways! Had to use the zebra print, but not enough so added the black with dots.

I LIKE IT! dd thinks it's hideous! Also, she is OK with the "R" but hates the tail on the "E". Oh well, it's not for her! The background is a dusty pink and I'm making bright simple blocks to encircle (using squares) the words. I found some strips of Dr. Seuss fabric and supplemented with other brights.

(Yes - I know the letters are unpressed and sideways. That's how I want it ...for now.)
